So, the septic system repair is complete (pictures below under the cut). As mentioned, I’m very impressed with the work done and the folks who did the job: very professional. The total, including the first company’s ‘inspection’ and determination that the tank was failing, was ~$8.5K. It’s done, and it shouldn’t be troublesome again in my lifetime ( Read more... )

Well, the septic is in and usable. The company will return tomorrow to put down loam and tidy up. They arrived at about 7:30 this morning and finished the day at 3:30 this afternoon. They did an impressive job!

The septic system contractor will be here by 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. I’m told we should only be without service for the time it takes to dig a hole and set up and connect the new tank; at 1500 gallons it will take a while to fill so it can be used while the rest of their project continues. Today was ‘hang out of the upstairs windows and clean the gutters’ day; I do this with an electric leaf blower fitted with a gutter cleaning attachment and a twenty foot shop-vac hose. I hate heights, and the back of the house is three stories high due to the walk out basement, so doing this from a ladder is out of the question. The great thing was ( Read more... )

The Project is done. We did order new curtains, after all, for both the shower and window; we sent back two sets of window curtains that just weren’t right. The new rug we bought is a bit small, so a new, bigger one will be added to the room.

The Project is all but done. The towel and tp hardware are installed, the shower head reinstalled, the fan has been cleaned and fitted with a new lens, and even the doorstop has been replaced. New window and shower curtain rods will go up tomorrow; the window gets new curtains while the shower gets its recently replaced one ( Read more... )
